Annual Coffee Drive
For a number of years, people have very generously donated cans of regular and decaf coffee to the Monticello Senior Center. This saves our center literally hundreds of dollars. Please bring a can of coffee (medium roast please) to the center on Wednesday, December 4 from 10-11 a.m. and stay for a donut and cup of steaming hot coffee.
Our goal is to exceed 100 cans of coffee and donations of coffee made any time in December will be counted in the total. Thank you for supporting your senior center.
Christmas Concert & Ice Cream Sundaes
Join us on Thursday, December 19 in the Monticello Community Center Mississippi Room for a fun Christmas event. The River City Ramblers senior choir will perform a number of Christmas songs at 1 p.m. and then you can build your own ice cream sundae.
There is no charge and you are asked to sign up in advance.
Play Christmas Bingo
People age 55+ are invited to join us for a fun Christmas Bingo event on Friday, December 13 at 1 p.m. It will be held in Monticello Community Center Mississippi Room.
Prizes will be awarded to the game winners and there will be some tasty treats. There is no charge.

America's First Ladies
Historian Doug Ohman will share some interesting stories, photographs, and forgotten memories about many of America’s best loved First Ladies when he gives this interesting presentation at the center on Monday, December 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Monticello Community Center Mississippi Room.
From Martha Washington to our more current First Ladies, this program promises to entertain and you will leave wondering why you were never taught these fascinating stories in school. Please sign up if you plan to attend.
Healing Power of Acupuncture
Through this engaging 10 a.m. session on Friday, November 22, participants will learn how acupuncture works, its effectiveness in relieving neuropathy symptoms and other conditions, and how it can improve overall health and well-being.
Practical ways to incorporate acupuncture into daily life for lasting relief and improved vitality will be discussed. Please sign up in advance and be sure to bring your questions.
Hospice 101
Come learn from a hospice expert about the in’s and out’s of the hospice program, it holds so many benefits! You will learn about requirements, financial implications, rules and regulations of the program, and benefits the program provides.
This free session is hosted by Senior Community Services and presented by Leslie Williams of Hospice of the Midwest and will be held at the senior center on Tuesday, December 10 at 10 a.m. Please sign up if you plan to attend.
Defensive Driving Courses
The Monticello Senior Center is partnering with the Minnesota Safety Council to provide defensive driving classes. People age 55+ are eligible to receive a 10% auto insurance discount. The class needs to be repeated every three years in order to continue receiving the discount.
8-hour classes are no longer be required. First-time participants can take a 4-hour class.
Classes will held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:
- December 12
- January 22
- February 26
Class size is limited and you must register and pay in advance. The cost is $25 per person payable by cash or check at the senior center. Call and reserve your spot today.

Learn to Knit
Want to learn how to knit? Well, your opportunity is here.
Free knitting classes will be held at the senior center on the 3rd Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m.

Memory Cafe
The Memory Café is a safe and comfortable place where caregivers and their loved ones with memory loss can participate together in a creative activity while socializing with others. The café experience is free, and all the supplies are provided for you.
The Wednesday, December 18 meeting will be held at the Crow River Senior Center from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Caregivers have the option to attend a concurrent caregiver support group.

Do you have a Medicare Supplement plan? If so, you may qualify for a free membership to the Monticello Community Center!
A membership helps you stay active and healthy and includes use of all the Community Center amenities and classes. Just stop by the Monticello Community Center Guest Service counter for more information.
