Volunteers are Needed for Senior Center Hobby Day
Senior Center Hobby Day is Tuesday, May 12th 8-11:30. Volunteers are needed to display or demonstrate their hobbies to the elementary school kids. Sign up at the center if you are willing to participate or talk to Jay-Jay for more details.
Garage Sale Donations Needed
Margie Sorlien has generously offered to host a garage sale with all the proceeds benefiting the Senior Center! We are currently accepting donations of gently used items now through May 6th. Simply drop off your items at the center, and we will take care of the rest. Any unsold items will be donated. Kindly, no clothing items at this time. Thank you!
MN Foot Care Service
Lacey Leonard RN and certified foot care specialist will be here on Friday, April 10th from 8:30-4:00 to preform foot care services. Including nail trimming, corn and callus reduction and moisturizing of feet and lower legs. Appointments are 45 min to 1 hour. The cost of the service is $55 made payable to MN Footcare Services. Confident Caregiver Series
This 4 week series meets every Tuesday in April from 9-11 a.m. All sessions will be held at Guardian Angels Corporate office 508 Freeport St. Elk River. Learn practical tips, reduce stress, and feel more supported in your caregiving journey. Respite is available upon request, breakfast provided. Beginner Pickleball Lessons
This 4 week beginner class for 55+ will meet Thursdays, April 9,10,16,23,30 from 11-1:00 p.m. cost is $40. Classes will cover pickleball safety equipment, serving, shots, rules, scoring, strategies, and place to play. This class will help you learn the basics, and enable you to take your game to the next level. Pickleball can be fun to play at any level with friends family members, community groups, in leagues, and even in tournaments. Pickleball promotes fitness and well being, including cardiovascular health, agility and social interaction. All participants will be given a players guide. Paddle and balls provided. Defensive Driving Courses
The Monticello Senior Center is partnering with the Minnesota Safety Council to provide defensive driving classes. People age 55+ are eligible to receive a 10% auto insurance discount. The class needs to be repeated every three years in order to continue receiving the discount.
8-hour classes are no longer be required. First-time participants can take a 4-hour class.

July 15th
Class size is limited, and you must register and pay in advance. The cost is $24 per person payable by cash or check the day of class to the instructor. Call and reserve your spot today.
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
“Thanks a Latte for all you do!” We are brewing up a special volunteer appreciation lunch on Wednesday, April 22 from noon to 2 p.m. If you have volunteered in any capacity in 2025 we want to celebrate YOU and honor the time, talent and heart you have shared with our center. Lunch will be provided by L & L Homestyle cafe featuring egg bake, fresh fruit and freshly baked pastries. After lunch enjoy a performance by “Just Havin Fun” the perfect way to perk up the day and some well deserved appreciation. Guests are welcome for $12. Please sign up if you plan to attend by Thursday April 16th. Come sip some joy and make this celebration brewtuful!
Powerful Tools for Caregivers
This 6 week class help give caregivers the tools they need to take better care of themselves while caring for a friend or relative. You will learn how to reduce stress, improve self confidence, manage time, locate resources and meet others going through similar journey. This class will meet every Wednesday beginning April 22th from 1-2:30. Respite care is available. Call VIVE at 320-460-7228 to register.
Senior Fitness Open House
April 23rd at 1:30 in the Warehouse. Come and exercise at the Monticello Community Center. Many seniors qualify for a free membership through their insurance. Get more info and take a tour.
Sound Bath
Join us for a Sound Bath on Friday, April 24 from 1-2 p.m. cost is $20.Relax and recharge with a unique sound bath. Let the soothing tones of Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, drums, rattles and crystal triangles wash over you, creating a deeply calming restorative experience. Take a break from the daily hustle and immerse yourself in the harmonious vibrations perfect for relation, mindfulness and inner peace. Sign up by April 17th if you wish to attend.
Monticello Senior Center Spring Breakfast Fundraiser
Join us for a delicious breakfast on Sunday, April 26 8 a.m.-noon for all you can eat scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes, juice, milk and coffee. Purchase your tickets in advance at the Senior Center for $9 or $10 at the door. Kids 6-12 years of age are $5 and kids 5 and under are free. We are currently looking for volunteers to help at the breakfast. If you are willing to help please sign up at the front desk. Thank you!
Northern Lights Acrylic Painting Class
Arlyn Diemand at wwwthbluefox.com will be here on Thursday, May 7th from 1-3 p.m. to teach a acrylic painting class. Immerse yourself in the world of art as you master essential techniques like shape, color theory and value composition. All supplies will be provided. Maytime Meal and Melodies
Join us on Friday May 8th from Noon-2 p.m. for a fun afternoon filled with good food and great music! Enjoy a delicious meal catered by L & L Homestyle café of chicken cordon bleu, cheesy hashbrowns, house vegetable, bread stick. Dessert is sponsored by The Legacy of St. Michael, lunch will be followed by a special performance sponsored by the Monticello Library. Charlie Mcguire, a renowned Minnesota based folk singer, songwriter, and storyteller, will share songs that celebrate Minnesota culture, history. He preforms with a guitar, harmonica, and jaw harp, bringing stories of regional history, Great Lakes sailors and everyday Minnesotans life. Sign up by May 4th. Memory Cafe
Memory cafes offer respite and support at the same time for caregivers of someone experiencing memory loss. An activity takes place at the same time as a caregiver support group. Caregivers can choose to join the activity or the support group. Our funding source does not cover the total cost of the Memory Café, so we would appreciate a cost share of $5.00 per caregiver. By sharing the cost you are helping with the sustainability of our program!
