Tax Assistance Full

The Monticello Senior Center has no more appointments available for tax assistance.

 

You can visit the AARP Tax Aide website for other locations.

HOME Program

Senior Community Services’ HOME Program can assist older adults with housekeeping, minor repair services and painting projects, and snow shoveling. Help is available for people age 60 and older in Monticello and several surrounding communities.

Tech Help

Need help with your smart-phone, tablet, computer, or TV system?  Our HOME Program offers support to help you have a better experience with technology.

 

Mary, a very tech-savvy volunteer, will be at our center on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month in the morning to help people with technology issues. 

 

Call the center at 763-295-2000 to schedule an appointment.

 

If you are meeting Mary at the senior center, be sure to bring your equipment with you to your appointment. In home help is also available.

Hearing Screening

Staff from Affinity Hearing in St. Michael will be at our center on the 3rd Monday of each month to conduct hearing screenings

 

Afternoon appointments are required for this free service and are made at the center.  Hearing aid cleaning will also be provided.

Caregiver Support Group

Becky Allard, LSW from Senior Community Services hosts a caregiver support group the 2nd Thursday of each month. You may also schedule a one-on-one appointment for personalized support.

Free Legal Aid Offered

There is no charge for people age 60+ to get legal help at the senior center.  The Senior Law Project can assist with many issues including Social Security and SSI; consumer, nursing home, and landlord problems; powers of attorney; health care directives; family law issues; and more. 

 

Please note that help cannot be given for criminal matters, wills, real estate transactions, or estate planning.  This free assistance will be offered on the fourth Monday of each month.

Free Blood Pressure Checks

You can get your blood pressure checked at the senior center on the second Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon.

 

Staff from St. Benedict’s Senior Community provides this valuable service.

 

There is no charge and you do not need to sign up in advance.

Computers Available

The senior center has 3 computers available for use anytime the center is open and all have access to the Internet.

 

There is no charge to use the computers.

Greeting Cards for Sale

LOTS of greeting cards appropriate for LOTS of occasions are available for purchase at the senior center.

 

The cost is $.50 per card or 3/$1Come and check it out the vast selection!

Borrow a Book

Stop over and browse thru the bookcase at the senior center.  Feel free to take a couple books home with you.  There is a good selection to choose from.

 

Have extra books?  Bring them in to share with others.
